Seger (1716 † 1782) was the most famous organist in Bohemia in the XVIIIth century.  No very large instruments had been constructed in the country but Seger was appointed at the most important one (Our-Lady of Týn in Prague) and his reputation quickly became considerable.  Burney met him and his report is full of consideration.

Only eight Toccatas and Fugues by Seger were published a few years after his death ; all his other works remained in manuscripts spread in various libraries.  His Preludes, Fugues, Toccatas, Fantasias are composed in a late-baroque language (he knew J.S.Bach’s art), using a nice and smiling counterpoint, quite under fingers.  In this edition they are classified by key.  The Pedal is not necessary, the stops are not mentionned and may be used at convenience.  (Very useful for services.)
