  • Volume 2 = 40 pages, Euros 42.-

The Organ Book of Limoges is an extremely rare and exceptional manuscript.  It was written during the beginning of the XVIIIth century and was planned to be used privately.  It survived miraculously and is now owned by the City Library of Limoges, where it was studied for the first time and introduced to the musical community by Guy Marissal, organ teacher at the Conservatoire of this town.  It contains fifty-four works.  Fourteen are copies of known pieces by Raison, Jullien et G. Corrette, sometimes with upgrades full of significance ; the other ones are anonymous and are worthy of the greatest classical masters.  For instance one will find a Tierce en bas-dessus [Tierce in low-treble], only known example up to now, several Trios for three hands as Lebègue or Raison used to perform, a Fugue with a chromatical contra-subject (totally exceptional then in France), a complete set for Ave Maris Stella and another one for Pange Lingua, a real Quatuor to be performed on four separate keyboards (as Grigny's, Marchand's or Guilain's), etc.

“This Book is one of the most splendid discoveries from those last fifty years !” (Michel Chapuis)

“This is an absolutely outstanding set of pieces, of very high quality and very poetical.” (André Isoir)
