D’Aquin, the famous organist of Notre-Dame in Paris, of Saint-Paul and of the Concert Spirituel, published his magnificent Noels in 1757.  His Book has no foreword, however it might have surprised the organsits of the time by several points, as for instance the compass of the pedalboard (which goes up to trebble B flat) or the ‘Récit en taille’(tenor solo) actually written over the accompaniment, looking asa trebble part...
 
Several editors attempted to solve these problems more or less.  Now comes this new edition which brings a logical and consistent solution, with all necessary explanations.  A detailed foreword allows to understand the reasons of these distinctive features and gives every key : the organs played by D’Aquin, his relations to Pierre D’Andrieu and Rameau, etc.
 
The musical text has been checked (at last fixing some errors which became customized) and full critical notes are provided.
