Volumes issued by Chanvrelin provide the author’s text, all the text, just the text.  Only the notation and the clefs are modernized.  No mention, no indication for tempo, performance or registration, no fingering are added.  On the other hand, a Foreword and complete Critical Notes give full necessary explanations about every question which arises.  The layout is simple and clear, and the engraving is extremely careful.
